A Chinese tipster revealed an upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen SoC earlier this month and shared some key specs. The chip carries a model number SM8635, but the marketing name is yet unknown, likely a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Lite or Snapdragon 8s Gen 2. Its performance is supposed to slot in between the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
Now, an unknown Realme smartphone with model number RMX3851 appeared in Geekbench’s database, powered by the same SM8635 chipset. Unfortunately, the model number is new, so its marketing name is also undisclosed.
The SoC’s specs fit the description almost perfectly, though. It employs an octa-core CPU with 1x Cortex-X4 @3.01 GHz and the listing now shows another cluster of four cores running at 2.61 GHz and three energy-efficient cores ticking at 1.84 GHz. The GPU is Adreno 735 and the chipset is likely based on a 4nm node.
The listing also shows the Realme phone booting Android 14 out of the box and featuring 16GB of RAM.
Keep in mind that the score is likely unreliable because pre-production units often have much lower performance before release. We will be on the lookout for more details for the Realme phone and Qualcomm’s upcoming chip.
