Samsung has officially launched its latest rugged tablet, the Galaxy Tab Active 5, designed for demanding work environments. The new tablet combines durability with premium features to deliver a capable productivity device.
The Galaxy Tab Active5 boasts an IP68 rating making it dustproof and water-resistant up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. It is also MIL-STD-810H certified to handle shock, vibrations, humidity and extreme temperatures.
The tablet features a 8-inch LCD screen with FHD+ resolution and a fast 120Hz refresh rate for smooth visuals.
Under the hood, the Galaxy Tab Active 5 is powered by Samsung Exynos 1380 5nm processor. This is paired with 6GB or 8GB RAM options and 128GB or 256GB storage expandable by 1TB.
A 5050mAh removable battery delivers all-day backup. The tablet can also work without the battery in ‘No Battery Mode’ using direct power delivery.
For productivity, the Galaxy Tab Active5 supports stylus input via the included S Pen rated IP68. It runs Android 14 and offers features like multi-window support and Samsung DeX for PC-like experience. The tablet equips a 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera for video calls.

Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 5Connectivity options on the rugged tablet include 4G LTE, 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC and USB-C port. The Galaxy Tab Active5 retains the durability focus but also packs premium features like Dolby Atmos speakers, facial recognition, fingerprint scanner and programmable Active Key.
With its durable design, long battery life and S Pen support, the Galaxy Tab Active5 is positioned as an ideal rugged tablet for field workers and enterprise customers.
Its ability to work without a battery through direct power delivery improves reliability and longevity in harsh environments.
Samsung has not revealed exact pricing yet but the Galaxy Tab Active5 is expected to be priced between $500 to $600 based on its specifications. The tablet will be available globally starting mid-January 2024.
